![]() The designer of the Zelensis was Raoul Thiébaut, this was not his only realization hear fore this portrait of a particular man. On 3 Match 1934 he is born and has already a brother and a sister, later he resaves another brother. He passes his youth living at Zele (Belgium) and follows school. Later he goes to Oostende to studied, these years he follows night school shipping and navigation.
Following this course and because his older brother is with the marines he decide to enlist for duty on a ship.
With this ship he comes to Canada, the US and the Dominican Republic. On these trips he has much free time that he uses to put some of his designs on paper. In 1957 at age of 23 he parts for California to go and live there. He find a job at Industrial Plastic Service where he is introduced with the material fibreglass and learns to work with it. A year later he returns to Zele because all men between 23 and 24 of age must fulfil there military service, even the immigrants. After some jobs with even much of enterprises he arrives at Fiberfleet at Aalst, where they make fibreglass boots in assignment for an American company.
In 1960 he meets a certain Bornstien who plans a factory to build small airplanes of the type Tipsy Nipper. Although the factory won’t be build there would be build one airplane at Zele. Also a design for letterbox for the Belgium post office and ventilated soles for boots remains without success, but he could get contracts for constructing skylights for villa’s and dashboards for trail ways busses. |
