Kelardasht
Located
northwest of Tehran close to the Caspian Sea, this fertile valley
is one the most popular destinations for eco tourists. At an altitude
of 1250 m above sea level the landscape is one of gentle hills
covered with forest. Great hiking trails, streams suited for fishing
and a peculiarly shaped Valasht lake, make it a paradise for nature
enthusiasts. |

Roodbarak
This
beautiful valley in the highlands of the Kelardasht, together with
the Alamkuh and Tahkt-e Soleyman mountain peaks, is commonly called
Iran's Switzerland. Being in the center of the famous peaks, the
dense forests of Abbas-Abad on the shores of Caspian Sea and Kelardasht,
often make Roodbarak the departure point for nature exploration. |

Chalous
A city
on the shores of the Caspian Sea, Chalous is 200 km from Tehran
and the first seaside resort where the Karaj-Chalous highway ends.
In addition to being a major city close to many popular sea and
mountain resorts, it also links the two northern provinces of Mazandaran
and Gilan to the Capital Tehran, making it an important commercial
center. |

Firuz-Kuh
Highway
Another
highway to the Caspian shores originates from east of Tehran passing
through many mountainside towns and villages. The most well known
of them is the Veresk in Savad-Kuh with a historical stone bridge
of the same name, used by the scenic Tehran-Gorgan rail link, snaking
through the Alborz massif circling atop mountains and crossing numerous
tunnels and stone bridges. |
