Pierre Vervloesem

Since he joined X-Legged Sally on the invitation of Michel Mast, Pierre Vervloesem has been a musical partner of Peter Vermeersch in nearly all his musical expeditions, both as a performer and as a producer: he is a member of A Group and performed with Peter the music for Weg; he has co-produced many of the cd's produced by Peter; and he has produced or mastered the cd's of the Flat Earth Society and Peter's solo albums.

Before joining XLS, Pierre had been in several smaller bands. His band Woodentrucks in the early nineties give their first concert some hours before the beginning of operation Desert Storm in Iraq. They split soon after.

Pierre has also released several solo cd's with totally crazy, Zappa-esque electric guitar music. He creates the weirdest sounds with his guitar but can also forge these noises into catchy tunes and simple pop songs. The perfect example to prove that 'experimental' doesn't (always) mean 'inaccessible.' Unfortunately, his cd's are hard to find.

The albums are often slightly autobiographical, but the titles for the songs are mostly random. A song on the 1994 release Home Made exists of one minute of silence, and is titled after the death date of Frank Zappa. In 1996 there was Fiasco, and in 1999 Pierre chose the (quite deserved) title Chef d'Oeuvre. Zala Zala (2001) is an album with music by Bengladeshi composer John Litton Baraï, arranged and produced by Pierre. In 2002, there was Pierre Vervloesem plays John Barry. The first album Home Made already contained a John Barry song.

Never sitting still, Pierre released a second solo cd in 2002, called Grosso Modo. This one was recorded in a few days, using the 'energy of the moment'. At the same time, Pierre released a cd with the collective Studio Pagol and started a live project based on Josse De Pauws play/film Übung.
