The Simpletones
The Simpletones is the band of contemporary composer Johan De Smet. Originally it was a two-man job, with Johan De Smet and Rudy Cabie. A single is rumoured to have been released by this line-up. Later, Johan turned the band into a big band to record the Mini-LP Wir sind wieder da (this is the late eighties) and later on his weird postmodern opera Einfach.
Einfach, set entirely in hairy German, portrays a group of personae of classical operas in new settings, like eating soup. One of the songs, called Kapitän Marvel ist deine Mutter, is a kind of press review of the opera itself translated into german. Very weird, and positively hilarious if you know anything about opera.
You can buy Einfach at De Vooruit.
