The music of What the body does not remember was composed from January to May 1987 in Polverigi, Italy, in close relationship with the work process of Wim Vandekeybus and his actors, and is played by the Maximalist! ensemble.

J. Flint and Towels were recorded and mixed in March 89 at Kitsch studio, Brussels, by Patrick Hubart. Frisking, Poses and Final were recorded in Polverigi and mixed in the Maximalist! studio in Brussels by Thierry De Mey.

The percussion instruments used were: Frisking: breath and percussion on wind instruments, metal sheets and piano frame. Poses: piano pizzicato. Final: piano frame, metal sheets, wood pieces.
