Zonk!004 Minoes is a childrens movie by Vincent Bal, based on the novel by Annie M.G. Schmitt, a famous Dutch writer of children stories. The book and movie are about a journalist who gets help from Miss Minoes. Minoes used to be a cat, but some strange event changed her into a beautiful person. Together, and with the help of many cats, they unmask an evil plot. The story, albeit simple (it is a childrens book after all), is quite good. The filming is very colourful and enchanting. The music is jazzy, playful like all Flat Earth Society music, but also very gentle. Because it is film music, it doesn't have many swinging melodies. There is one real song on the album, de kattenpersdienst, which is quite catchy. There is an official Minoes page (in Dutch). Find out where the movie is playing near you (in Belgium) at Cinebel. They also have the trailer. |
