The 7th edition Edition of the Brussels

Thierry Le Clercq, the organizer of the magnificient Brussels
Show, was very pleased with the turnout at the 7th edition.
Brussels geographical location in the middle of Europe is one of
the best, and is easily accessible by car, train, or plane.The
show has been held at the Brussels Kart Expo a few miles away
from the centre of this great city, from the very beginning. The
huge 5.200 square meter building easily held the 625 tables used
to display 240 exhibitors’ wares.
Carnival figures and old paintings with kids and toys were
scarce but so interesting.
Exhibitors came from all over the world to attend, representing
twelve countries (55% of the exhibitors reside outside of
Belgium). This is certainly becoming the biggest toy show in
Europe, with four collecting themes represented: 60% antique
toys, 20 % comcs and figures, 10% advertising signs, slot
machines, etc., and a full corner of wares devoted to Barbie was
heaven for collectors.
Hundreds of great robot collectors came to shop and chat with
other like-minded souls and o meet the youngest generation in
this field, something that you can’t do on the Internet!
Everyone had at least a duplicate to trade, so the exchange
worked extremely well; Dirk Gadomski and Steve Jaspen made the
trip, and the sweetest lady, Mrs. Kumagai, came all the way from
Osaka, Japan to display her husband Nobuo’s replica collection
and some other old goodies.
Arman Hui Boa, the famous French robot collector, was a guest
star, signing books and taking photos with young robot
collectors who were proud to pose with him.He took the time to
tell all his fellow collectors that the book “Japanes Toys from
the Late 50’s and 60’s” will be available for free downloading
in PDF format on the website www.pitcheetoy.com. Please make
note of it!
As you can see by the nice photograps taken at the show, there
was something for everyone, from the very old to the most
contemporary productions. I’m sure everyone found at least a
little something during their few hours trip around the show.

Nostalgic Collection
Pour cette 8ème Bourse Européenne d’Objets de
Collection, les passionnés viennent de France , de Hollande,
d’Allemagne, de Grande-Bretagne, de Suisse et d’Espagne.
Crée et organisée par Thierry Le Clercq, cette bourse, l’une des
trois plus importantes réunions européennes du genre, développe
trois thèmes.
Tout d’abord, le jouet ancien dans tous ses états, jouets en
tôle, trains et autos déclinés à toutes les échelles (les autos
représentent 25 à 30% du total des objets exposés), productions
recherchées issues des usines les plus prestigieuses telles
Märklin, Bing, Hornby, Lehmann, Meccano…. jouets en bois et
boîtes de construction, soldats de plomb, poupées de rêve,
poupées Barbie et teddy-bears. Ensuite viennent les objets
publicitaires de toutes les époques convoitées par des amateurs
de plus en plus nombreux. Leur cote ne cesse de s’affermir comme
celle des flacons de parfum qui seront échangées en grand
nombre.
Les pièces exceptionnelles seront présentées dan la « Section
Prestige ». Dans ce saint des saints, se regroupent les
collectionneurs les plus importants, marchands renommés et
organisateurs de ventes publiques de prestige des principales
capitalesù européennes.

Een speelgoedstation
van een miljoen
BRUSSEL – Een “Central Station” van nauwelijks
een halve meter oppervlakte voor een prijs van één miljoen. Waar
je dat op de kop moet tikken? Op de Brusselse speelgoedbeurs
natuurlijk, die gisteren tijdens de derde editie massaal volk
lokte.
“Stations zijn altijd duur geweest. Dit zijn unieke stukken, zo
bestaan er geen vijf in Europa. Ik heb ooit een lcomotief voor
2,5 miljoen verkoch”. Aan het woord is André Vercauteren.
Auctioneer prijkt er op z’n visitekaartje.
Zeg mmar marktkramer. Maar dan wel van uitzonderlike waardevolle
stukken, oude treinen, auto’s, staions of boten. Gisteren
tekende de man present op de “Nostalgic Collection”, een beurs
vor oud speelgoed in de Brusselse Magdalenazaal. Vijf stations
van rond de eeuwwisseling, stuk voor stuk van het Duitse Märklin,
waren goed voor samen zowat drie miljoen. “Wie dat koopt? Mannen
met zo’n portefeuille” spriedt André z’n handen 20 cm open. De
stations uit blik, zijn nog in perfecte staat.
Ze zijn een nagenoeg exacte reproductie van de toen heersende
stijlen: barokke voorgevels, met overdadige versieringen,
gaanderijen, beelden, zelfs een waterpomp.
De stations van André Vercauteren waren slechts een van de vele
attracties. Uit acht landen toonden verzamelaars hun waren,
zelfs uit Canada kwam een mevrouw met een hele poppenkast
aandraven. De beurs waar je naast speelgoed ook reclame-objecten,
parfumlesjes en mechanische muziekinstrumenten kon vinden, kent
el jaar meer succes.Gisteren verdrongen de toeschouwers zich
letterlijk in de zaal. En bewonderden de meest vreemde
snuisterijen. Marsmannetjes, robots, maanwagens, ruimtemonsters
met scherpe angels als klauwen. Maar ook een woestijnsoldaat met
kromzwaard en reuzetulband; of een tinnen Ambiorix naast een
legioen andere miniatuursoldaatjes.
Uit Versailles kwamen blikken doosjes die rond de eeuwwisseling
voral als koejestrommeldienst deden. Allemaal eenmalig maatwerk,
dat nooit werd geproduceerd. Een blik in de vorm van een leren
damestasje; of een winters zicht op Moscow, met vooraan sleen en
het Kremln, van voor de revolutie.
Ook hier weer ongelooflijke prijzen: een nagebootste rij boeken,
met zelfs gemarmerde bladzijden ging voor 15.000 fr van de hand.
Relatief goedkoop tot de stations; of het miniatuurwagentje van
Hans Eberl, 140.000 fr waard.
De Nostalgic Collection in de Brusselse Magdalenazaal lokte
de verwoede zamelaar van oud speelgoed.
