Funeral Winds
Funeral Winds must be the longest still existing Black Metal cult in Holland. What's your opinion bout the band's history?
RSD XUL: Funeral Winds is one of the very few (if not the only) Dutch Black Metal band that has existed since the beginning of the nineties that still lives and breathes the Black metal Cult. There have been of course numerous line up changes, but the spirit of Funeral Winds always stayed the same-an attitude which is quite rare in the current Black Metal scene. The band's former line up is of a minimal concern to us; only the current line up is relevant, since this is the strongest Funeral Winds line up to date: Hellchrist Xul (guitars/vocals), RSD Xul (bass), and Balgradon Xul (drums)
Many bands claim to be Satanic, to be anti Christian. But when you see a Christian black metal band rising (and I presume that's quite some problem in Holland) nobody does or say anything. Mustn't these bands be boycotted and slain to honour the true spirit?
RSD XUL: As a result of the trend a lot of bands popped up playing pseudo Black Metal music, most of them having not a single clue what Black Metal is all about, others openly rejecting the values and playing "Christian Black metal"-Quite sickening don't you think? Of course these bands must be boycotted in any way, as well as the people and bands that support them and are working together with them. It's time to draw a line and act up to our ideals. It is quite visible which bands are really supporting the Cult, and which bands only care about playing music, having a lot of shitty concerts, and spend all their free time socializing on the intern talking about nothing. DEATH TO TRAITORS!!!!! Nowadays a lot of bands support self-destruction. But in a satanic point of view, aren't you your own god?

Killing yourself for sometimes can be of a great help to some few, but when you think of it that
when everybody thinks the same, all will end with us here, and there will be nobody to spread the
Plague.
RSD XUL: Any human Death is one more victory for Satan, especially one by Choice. When we will all
be gone, His Force will ever be present, taking another shape to annihilate Mankind-using another
army to serve him on Earth. Should we all kill ourselves, the Plague will rage on until mankind is
extinct. We are nothing to Him…
What's your idea about Orthodox Satanism? One can use the "appearance" of Satan in a way to frighten Christians and to do harm to them. But isn't Satanism far more then that? Or can one only succumb to these practises of Orthodox Satanism or is there more to it?
RSD XUL: Accepting the concept of Satanism without the physical form of it results merely in a Black form of Humanism. One could use the "appearance" of Satan to frighten Christians, but if there is no Devotion to Him, it's just Anti-Christianity, something to get through the day, nothing more. Satanism must have a sincere form of Devotion to it in order to live it properly.
Like many bands Funeral Winds has also suffered from line up changes. Is the current Line up a steady one? Because you all have other bands you play in. Can you combine them all together?
RSD XUL: I believe this line up is the strongest Funeral Winds line up to date, we are stripped down to three members now, sharing mutual interests on music and ideology. The fact that we all play in other bands is no problem for Funeral Winds, we all know exactly what we want for Funeral Winds and how to achieve it. Funeral Winds is not a band that is playing live every week, or has to socialize with everyone. It's pure about the essence and no other band will ever be a threat to that!
Funeral Winds always had its own style I think. What can we expect in the future from FW?
RSD XUL: We will remain loyal to the Funeral Winds sound, music wise and lyric wise. Our new opus
Koude haat will mark the definitive return of Funeral Winds in the scene. You can't kill what's already dead!! The production will be different than the Godslayer Xul record, which was a little bit too clean in my opinion. Expect a harsh and aggressive sound, nothing less!! What happens after that is unsure at this point, we might contribute to some 7" singles, or maybe a Mini album completely devoted to the Xul concept, time will tell…..
Funeral Winds In Holland there are also movements like Black Metal Mafia and the Black Union. Do you know more about these organisations? Do they really support the cult or is it again one of those movements with a lot of people with big mouths and small hearts?
RSD XUL: Yes,they support the cult, and especially BMM are not afraid to use violence to make their case clear-something which is appreciated. I will not go into details about these organisations-some things are not to be brought to daylight. But I can tell you they are actively fighting against christian and christian-tolerating influences in the scene. The individualistic purpose of these organisations is not important-the Black Metal Cult is!!
You have also played quite some gigs in the past. Were you ok with all those gigs, or are there certain bands that you will never support to be on the same stage with?
RSD XUL: Of course there are some bands whom it was great performing with, as well as there are bands that were pathetic. I'm not going to mention names here, the bands we respect know that we respect them, and the others should just get an HIV infection.
With the internet and so on, a lot of people download the music of their favourite bands. Sometimes due to lack of money, sometimes due to Jewish reasons and laziness. What's your opinion about this?
RSD XUL: It is both positive and negative. Of course MP3/CD burning is a cheap and easy promotion for the music, and the fact that the Internet is easily accessible makes it a good tool to spread propaganda. On the other hand, since the internet is so widespread and easy to get on, all kinds of inferior morons are attracted to Black Metal, while they would have never heard of it if it wasn't for the internet. It is something we are going to have to deal with. Mainly I don't care about people downloading music from the internet, it's not something I waste my time on, and I'm not going to waste my time thinking about it

As our fight continues. Must we only indulge in words? Are our actions a great way to achieve
what everybody's talking about?
RSD XUL: If there are no actions, nothing will change!! Fortunately, a fair amount of people seem to realize this, and are planning actions. Both the inferior infiltration of our scene and the disgusting over-tolerating society must have our attention. If there is no harm done on humanity it will all be in vein. Start acting!
OK, thanx for this interview, finish it as you wish. AMSG!
RSD XUL: He who poisons our Cult will face his worst nightmare.
DEATH TO TRAITORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
