What makes the sun travel he sky everyday ? What are these lights up there every night ? What force makes the Nile swell it's borders? Where do people go once they're dead ? These, and many other questions troubled people from all ages and not only the Egyptians. The Egyptians had a very godlike notion about it all. For them, almost all mysteries were resolved by the presence of a deity. |
Traditionally, Egyptian history is seen to span a
period of at least 3.000 years. There is however a tradition that speaks of Egyptian civilization not starting 3.000 BC but 10.500 BC. |
| Some interesting facts. GEB and NUT, two very lifelike characters were said to be the father and mother of all gods. They begot Osiris (ruler of the underworld), Isis, Nephtys and Seth. Seth killed his brother Osiris, but Osiris'wife restored his body, and so Osiris came to represent the spirit after death. Jackals hunted the cemeteries. So Anubis (head of a jackal) came to be now as the guardian of the dead. |

Horus(protector of the pharaoh) and Maat were childeren of the
gods. Akhenaten (wife Nefertiti) created a new cult to worship the sun ATEN. They did away with all the other gods. Amun (hidden), the god of the sun, was the most important one.At karnak he was worshipped for many centuries by all pharaoh. |
