Ex-Rolling Stone Mick Taylor Records With Carla Olson

June 30, 2000, 9:30 am PT

Carla Olson and former Rolling Stone Mick Taylor have recorded eight songs together in Los Angeles that will appear on her next album, Ring of Truth, due Sept. 26 on Bakery Digital Recordings.

The album includes an 11-minute version of the Stones' song "Winter." Also playing at the session was Electric Flag & Bob Dylan '60s session alumnus Barry Goldberg.

Olson (former leader of the critically acclaimed L.A. band the Textones and an early '90s singing partner of late ex-Byrd Gene Clark) and Taylor have worked together a lot in the past. They recorded a live album in 1991 titled Too Hot for Snakes, and Taylor also worked on Olson's other solo albums, Within an Ace and Reap the Whirlwind.

Meanwhile, she's currently producing an album by pop/jazz guitarist Phil Upchurch. The release, tentatively titled Tell to the Truth, is due later this year on Fantasy Records.
