Brian Jones

Born in Cheltenham, a middle class town. A brilliant guitar player. But not only guitar... Jones also played (watch this!) harmonica (Come On, Not Fade Away), organ, marimbas (Under My Thumb), sitar (Lady Jane, Paint It, Black), dulcimer, recorded, bells, saxophone (The Beatles - You Know My Name), harpsichord, Mellotron... Brain was the first to play slide guitar (remember Little Red Rooster). From the moment he began to take drugs, he transposed from a nice guy into a monster. In the early days, the leader of The Stones was Brian, rather than Mick. First leader, at the end an outsider. Shortly after The Rock 'n' Roll Circus (December 1968) Brian was sacked by Mick and Keith. Despite what people say, Brian was still seeing The Stones and he remained a very good friend of Bill. Jones died in his swimming pool. The Rolling Stones -then with Mick Taylor on guitar- dedicated a memorable concert to him in Hyde Park.
