Meaning of the name W.I.S. = "Werkgroep Inheemse Spinnen" = dutch, which stands for "Studygroup Native Spiders" i.e. Belgian Spiders
AIM, PURPOSE, TARGET:
To promote the scientific study and knowledge of the spider (Araneae) behavior through observation and cultivation of spiders in captivity.
To pass the academical arachnological knowledge to every interested person on an educational well-founded manner.
To make excursions to bring every interested person closer to nature in order to make him aware of the ecological importance of the relationships between all living things (and spiders of course).

All excursions start at 14.00 h - We gather at the secretariate. The excursions end normally at about 17.00 h. |
All meetings and work-sessions commence at 19.00 h at the secretariate. At the work-sessions we discuss the several spider-families, we learn to identify the spiders and perhaps we detect some new specimen.... (who knows???). |
