Mimas eclipse

August 1996, pastel and poster colour, 300 x 400 mm

While the southern part of Saturn's moon Mimas with its icy surface keeps on reflecting the sunlight intense, the northern part is veilled in a dark reddish glow. The Sun shines trough the planet's atmosphere at right, however with an orange colour. De rings of the planet reflect the light on the dark side of Saturn. On the background you see the milky way and the constellation of Scorpius (below) among others.
