Saturn as seen from Dione

January 1996, pastel en poster colour, afterwards touched up with airbrush, 500 x 700 mm

The ring of Saturn is seen here as a bright line, together with the small moons Mimas, Thetys and Enceladus (from left to right). Just like Dione, they reflect a lot of light due to their surface of water ice. Below left of the Sun, the planet Jupiter is visible as a brilliant 'star'.
