Tarzan Escapes
– Jane’s cousins try to convince her to claim a fortune bequeathed to her
back in England. The action
accelerates when their unscrupulous guide attempts to capture Tarzan and turn
him into a sideshow attraction to entertain the public.
Graphically violent (for its time), and energetically directed, this entertaining entry has Tarzan captured by a hunter who wants to put him on exhibition in England. This film was completely reshot and reworked when the original version proved too potent and blood-curdling for preview audiences; as a result there are some plot holes in what might have been the best Tarzan movie of all.
