All pilot lights and dials are grouped and within easy reach. Next to
the speedometer and rev counter a central warning dial groups all the
main safety pilot lights. Adjustable steering wheel (height-and depth wise). 2 bucket seats at front with tipping backs and forward slides so as to free ingress to back seats: they are adjustable distance-and height- wise. while their backs can be reclined to the desired angle and are fined with head- rests which can be adjusted for height and slope. Back seer housing two. with retracting arm rest 3-point safaty-befts at front. Heating: by ancillary radiator and pulsation. De- frosting of windscreen and demisting of side and rear windows. Two ventilators. one on each side of the fascia: their output and direction can be adjusted. high-output air pulsator working independently of vehicle speed and operating even when the car is at rest. The night lighting of the SM uses a spectacular ramp of 6 iodine headlamps all with automatic dynamic correction. LIGHTING: Bank of 6 rectangular headlights housed in 2 groups of 3 on either side of the number plate. the complete unit being protected by a glass fairing. Each housing inludes: one specialized 'dip" headlight. one wide-beam road headlamp and one narrow-beam (long-range)headlight with hydraulic directional adjustment. All six headlights are fitted with iodine lamps and automatic attitude-correction devices. 2 reversing lights at rear. The OPTION list on the SM was not very long. Most export model already
had air conditioning, leather trim and radio fitted. Most desirable option
are the special lightweight Michelin RR wheels. Rarest option is a set
of luggage designed to fit the boot of the SM.
