The information below may be useful for anyone
seeking an engine for a 'traditional' narrow boat whether the engine is a
new build classic, derated modern or a restored vintage.
For an engine to be included it must have most
of the following characteristics

The data is as accurate as can be but it should be noted that there may be variations. Some figures may be the continuous horse power rating, others not. The quoted horse power may have been chosen at a lower rpm figure more appropriate for narrow boat use, etc. etc. I even have manufactures data sheets for the same engine that quote different figures. In other words, the figures may not be 100% accurate but still remain a good guide in selection of an engine.
