| DATABASE OF THE JAMAICAN CAVES | ||
I call this program a "graphic" database of
the known caves of Jamaica. With a click of the mouse you can find data
and location of 1052 caves. Just what you need when you want to know
where the caves are located on the island. The data is saved in a dBase III format. So it is very simple to update with e.g. Excel, Access,... This is already an old but very usefull program written in Power Basic. It is running under Dos but Windows knows how to handle the program. If I find time and there is some interest in a new version, I will eventually rewrite it in Visual Basic. To download (98 kB): jamaica.zip. Surprising isn't it, the database and program stuffed in only 98 k! Try this with the modern visual languages... | ||
| ACKEE SOUP | ||
| No Program this time but an excellent recipe of a jamaican soup. Puts the sun into your plate! what you need:
Put the ackees together with the liquid from the can into a saucepan with the chicken stock, tomato, shallots, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer gently until the shallots are tender. Mix with an electric blender. Season to taste with the hot pepper sauce. Stir in the cream and heat through. The soup is also very good served chilled. Serves six. The soup may be garnished with chopped chives or chopped parsley or with sweet paprika. Smakelijk! (Flemish for "enjoy your meal!") |
