My watergarden
Round 2001 I build my first
pond
Completely informed by a local pond specialist.
The result was shameful, the pond bottom
was made from about 30 cm to 1 meter in
PVC foil and aside a plantfilter with lava
rocks.
It was clear (or not if you look at the
pond) that the problems were not so far
away.
Green water, Dead fish and a bad constructed
pond were the result.
By looking on the internet of what could
be the root cause I came at the address
of e real koidealer.
About this I do not need to tell more as
that...
The addiction
started!
The admiration to the Japanese culture is
growing with the years. A wonderful respect
for each other and the necessary "etiquette"
is not strange to it.
Beside this, I have the admiration for the
ongoing persistence and the art to create.
By this I made myself the intention to at
least build this part of art and habits
in to my garden and pond.
Otherwise I also am favorite of the modern
and minimalistic ideas.
This together makes my garden, my secret
watergarden.
Garden entrance
|
|
By
this metal, modern door, you enter
our garden. Modern and subtle. However,
once entered you immediately get the
invite to choose 2 ways. One to visit
the house terrace and also the ponds.
The other way brings you to the garden. |
Home terrace
| To
enter the garden terrace you pas a tsukubai.
The ritual bassin where you wash yourself
to clean you spiritually. Normally a
tsukubai is found nearby a tea- house.
I placed it at the terrace because my
personal experience teaches le that
you only can completely enjoy the garden,
flowers and pond if you let go of the
daily problems. The terrace is so placed
at the house, more specific at the entrance
of the kitchen and dinning room . By
its closeness to the kitchen it's ideal
to eat outside. |

tsukubai must
be placed in the future |
Sight on the koi
ponds

|
As from the terrace you have a vision
to both ponds. The biggest pond is
the in fact bad constructed pond,
however due to my filter adjustments
its relative clear and with good water
meassurements. Also the smaller pond
is cleanly visible. This pond use
to contain the more "special"
koi, and the old pond contained the
test koi. At this moment however they
both contain good quality koi and
special koi.

The hidden filters
| filters
are essential for your pond. Especially
for your koi pond. Visual not so extreme
attractive do we need to get them "out
of the eye". |

Never ending view

A watergarden is only a watergarden
when plants and global plan are in
place. The part surrounding the ponds
are build with the intention of giving
it a Japanese influence. I do not
mean a Japanese garden as this is
much to hard to build and keep in
Europe. But here you see the Ilex
crenata tree surrounded by rocks.
Further also Azalea japonica, the
moose replacing plants like Cotula
and Pachysandra and 4 different varieties
of Acer. Plant list: Acer palmatum,
cotula, Ilex crenata, Hosta, Azalea
japonica "moederkensdag"...
beplanting:
Acer palmatum,
cotula,
Ilex crenata,
Hosta,
Azalea japonica "moederkensdag"
Imperata cylindrica "Red Baron"
(Japans Bloedgras)
Pachysandra terminalis

The modern minimalistic
green
| To
be sure also a small area is kept
for my modern, minimalistic interests,
we find behind de Japanese influenced
part a small area of grass. This grass
together with the water mirror and
sky make a great art.

had always an attraction to me. So why
not forsee a place for these magnificent
trees. |

The herbal garden

Eat, that's
something we all need to do.
Why not make room for the homegrown
herbs... These herbs are individually
planted in pots without a bottom. So
we can contain then because lots of
herbs have the tention to grow extensively.

This is in general virtual
tour of my garden. Naturally this can change
over the years. A garden grows and changes.
Just like people.
On regular basis I will adjust this page.
Form more information, please sent me a
mail or why not sign my guest book?!
I hope you enjoyed this
tour and hope to see you again.
Thank you and I wish you a lot of pond,
koi & garden pleasure.
PS under, the more technical items of both
ponds.
