The study of a rare surname helps to locate their ancestors and cousins, but Saint-Mard is also a place name.
Each village Saint-Mard may be a family and seigniory St. Mard. In the Middle Ages, a family Saint Mard living in Etampes, near Paris. Of course, it has nothing to do with the Saint-Mard, Saintmard and St Mard living in Gaume and Lorraine.
Next periods or countries, the surname spelled St Mard, Saint-Mard or Saintmard.
Over time, the St Mard Gaume and Meuse united by their common ancestor Pierre St Mard, bourgeois, husband of Marie Maillet to Buzenol, provost of Etalle (17th century) were scattered in Belgium, France but also in Spain , USA ...
Our family is divided into three main branch:
Do not confuse our family with:
The region of origin of our family is the former County Chiny.
County CHINY appears during the eleventh century. Its territory included the district current Belgian of Florenville, Neufchâteau, Etalle and Virton; French of Montmédy (Meuse department) and Carignan (Ardennes department).
In 1330, Yvois (Carignan) is the largest city in the county of Chiny.
Chiny County is a Romance area of the Duchy of Luxembourg.
District Montmédy is the northern part of the department of Meuse, forming the border with Belgium.
A large part of the villages in the region Montmédy was part of the County of Chiny before the first breakup of Luxembourg in 1659 (Treaty of the Pyrenees).
Montmédy was capital of the County of Chiny.

Lower Luxembourg is divided into two countries:
Map extracted from the site of the CDPA - Center Buzenol
The country of Arlon represents about a quarter of the surface of Lower Luxembourg while Gaume three quarters. The western and southern border of the Gaume is a relatively new political frontier.
The "two countries" are a single geographic area and natural. There is a peaceful and friendly coexistence between the two boroughs. As everywhere in the Walloon Region, the language is French.
Gaume villages are built on little fertile land (forests, 46% of the territory).
France: towns Montmédy, Yvois-Carignan, Marville and Avioth were part of the Duchy of Luxembourg until 1659 (Treaty of the Pyrenees following the fall of Montmédy and death of its governor Jean V Allamont of Malandry in 1657).
Luxembourg: The separation of the Gaume and the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, United Kingdom of the Netherlands was made at the Belgian revolution in September 1830. A treaty set a final border between the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and Belgium in 1839.
In summary, the County of Chiny:

Over time, Saint Mard are scattered mainly in France and Belgium. But some have been much further, the United States of America.
Descendants of Hubert St Mard and Anne Brasseur of Dampicourt. Wiseppe twig.
Ancestors of Justin Jean Baptiste SAINTMARD died, New Orleans, Louisiana (USA)
In 1884, two brothers born Harnoncourt, Léon Eugène born in 1860 and Justin Saintmard Jean Baptiste born in 1861, emigrated. Justin Saintmard moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he works as a gardener and florist. Twenty years after his arrival on 20 September 1905, Justin Toelke wife Mary to New Orleans. From this union was born three children: Bernard and Hubert St Mard.
We find the trace of St Justin Mard in two newspapers:
In the latter case, a St Mard is cited. It is not identified. Logically, it would be Justin.
Bernard and Hubert St Mard had several children, but we must get a result, the surname St Mard will probably extinct in Louisiana because Justin St Joseph Mard (33 years late in 2008) has no son. He has three daughters. In late November 2008, I managed to come into contact with his mother.
Unlike France and Belgium, some personal information is freely available in the USA. Some judgments are published on the Internet. It is possible to obtain data for payment of civil status and the criminal records of your neighbour, boss or employee. One of these websites offer free access in the name, age, city of residence and "possible relatives " of U.S. citizens (veromi.net). It allowed me to draw the outline of the pedigree of St. Mard (with very little error). Another feature several sites including the Mormons publish the "U.S. Social Security Death Index”.

Blogs are a family source of information. In our case, it was even a challenge. Indeed, during the month of November 2008, by searching on-my favourite search engine, I found an article "Jung Reunions. So, the BIG, EXTENDED, JUNG / ST.MARD family went to Gulf Shores, and survived (I think!) "And a photograph:
With Facebook, I came into contact with Lisette St Mard which transferred my message to her sister Susan. The information provided by Suzanne allowed me to collect almost all the data I had accumulated for years.
Anecdote, Bill Cardwell explained that the Creole shrimp, served on Wednesday in his restaurant "BC's Kitchen" is a tribute to her mother-in-law Carole Saint-Mard native of New Orleans (BC’s Kitchen; 11 Meadow Circle Dr., Lake St. Louis; 636-542-9090. Lunch and Dinner daily. In http://stlouiseats.typepad.com).
I found at this address (http://home.earthlink.net/~ntgreen/PTapp.html), the offspring of Mary Janice St Mard wife Floyd Tapp Neth.

I do not have the date of arrival of Justin St John Batiste Tuesday but it seems logical that arrived at the same time as his brother. In 1911, Justin returned to St Mard Harnoncourt. He arrived on 17 July 1911 in New York from Antwerp. The journal The Weekly Florist of 7 September 1911 (in www.archive.org) said that "it is his first journey from twenty-seven years."
In the descendants of Hubert St Mard and Elise Cecile we find some St Mard, of Hotard and perhaps Young.
In the descendants of John Bernard St Mard, we find Jung, Fowler and Neth.
In Louisiana, we find the St Mard in New Orleans, Metairie and Gretna (adjacent neighbourhoods in New Orleans), Terrytown (area adjacent to Gredna), Madisonville (in front of New Orleans, on the other side Lake Pontchartrain), Covington (60 miles north of New Orleans) and Baton Rouge (the capital of Louisiana).
Descendants of St John and Marguerite Henry Mard Little Verneuil.
Ancestors of Constant SAINT MARD died on 29 September 1966, Northampton, Massachussetts (USA)
