The Belgian Congo Section:

 

This section was situaded alongside the International Section and just close to the Atomium. The animal park was nearby.

The following pavilions were spread over this section:

Seven Pavilions

 

Seven pavilions showed different aspects of Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi.

 

The Government Pavilion

With a lenght of 160 metres it was the biggest pavilion in this section.

Inside there was a collection of everything which had a connection with the development of the physical, biological and human science of equatorial Africa.

 

The Pavilion of Catholic Missions

This pavlion, with a nice chapel in the center, had an entrance dominated with a gingantic crucifix of copper and iron.

This contribution emphasized the collaboration among nations of Africa, the Church and State.

 

The Pavilion of Agriculture

This pavilion, located in the center of this section, used real African wood and timber for its construction.

It showed, with a typical African atmosphere, the development of the agriculture in Congo, from ancestral method to today's industrial cultures.

 

The Pavilion of Mines

This pavilion was shaped as a big square rectangular hall with metal framework and a terrace roof.

Mines exploitation and modern metal industry was shown here.

 

Pavilion of Fauna

In this dome shaped pavilion got no daylight which created a typical savannah ambience.

Display’s and life-size models showed the African wildlife.

 

Pavilion of Commerce, Insurance and Banks

The importance of African banks and insurances, commerce, import and export in Congo was demonstrated in this 35 metres long pavilion.

 

The Pavilion of Transport and Building

This contribution was located on two levels with groups of teleconnections, transport by land, air and sea, civil engineering with scale-models of bridges, mechanization and accommodation.

 

Tropical Gardens

There also was a tropical garden situaded in this section. On an area of 3 hectares was a variety of tropical flora exposed, basins with fountains included.

A burning need for unity envelopes our World. These palaces, gardens, and various pavilions of the most brilliant Exhibition ever presented.

The ideal background for a coming-together of peoples. So that, with a deep understanding of the essential being which unites them, even in the midst of their difficulties. They may love one another and bring to fruition that great work of works.
