MUSIC ! Day of the Restos du Coeur

Hallen van het Hart - Halles du Coeur - Halles of the Heart

About the first edition of the Day for the Restos du Coeur!

I'll briefly tell you something about the first event, scheduled on February the 3rd, 2002 in Brussels. The program opened with JADA. An ethno-Brussels band build upon several percussionists and some "wind" instruments (Didgeridoo, ...). A very relaxing atmosphere was noticed over the concert-hall and its 400 to 500 visitors at that time. Everybody listened intensily to their music. Next on stage (or should I say, in front of the stage) we had a big-band coming over, with about 60 musicians, "le fanfare Jour de Fête" (Day of the feast), quite an impressive sight, but not my thing ;-) The children, still present at that time of the day (4pm) loved it though. They loved the children animation which we programmed with the help of some circus and jongleur artists and some schools. At 5pm it was the time for Univibes to do there act. A really great Live performing Reggea band. At 6 pm we were filled by the warm French Chanson group GOA, time to take a break, have some food with their smooth music on the background. 7pm and MacRahl went on stage. A quite original 'Folk' band from the Ardens... very Celtic sounds, great almost original instruments and a very pleasant sound and atmosphere found its way ovr the croud... 8pm and only halfway: time to kick some ass with the unconventional francophone Rock-Fusion group 'le chien jaune' (the yellow dog). Different styles mixed into one pot and released on the audience for 45minutes, and they loved it... but it ain't over yet ! PPz30 was next, originally a very loud and hard band (ppz30 is an application from the construction industry)... they put together 'Metal' 'Lead' and 'Opera'.. very well known for their energetic and excellent live performances... the singer is just filled with excentric charisma!! At 10pm the top of the bill got on stage, Mario Gucchio: Leadsinger of the well known band 'Machiavel'. He performed together with two out of three other band-members. It was what you might call a very intimate act, the contact with the audience was overwhelming and warm (what do you expect from Mario, one of the most 'Zen' personalities I met last years), allthough many people had left by this time due to the late hour (it was a Sunday evening)... Closure of the evening was done by Elysian, a group you'll find more information about in my Music-part. It was their return to stage after a studio-rehearsel period of nearly 5 months... the concert they gave us this evening was a try out of their new set, based on their new album which is due to come out soon.

Just some pictures of the Concert-hall, a well known and beautiful Cultural Center in the Heart of Brussels, La Tentation. Originally a space for Gallo-oriented events, but open to us for this special occasion. There has been a lot of talk lately about the Center being closed due to some management and tax problems... well I don't know about the latest news but I sure don't hope so!!
