Goddesses and women

As already said, it is an endless subject. The formidable mythological production from the Hinduism has been reinforced in Nepal with a lot of Tantric additions. This has placed the female archetypes anywhere between the ultra faithful Sita immolating herself to save the dignity of her husband Shiva and the wrathful unstoppable Kali, demon killer and blood thirsty. Here again, Ragini does not follow the tradition but does not deny it (for sure Descartes did not live in Nepal). She brings in her composition, images with correspondence in the religious iconography but does not transform them into a cult or if there is a cult it is the one of tolerance and mutual benefit.

Ragini's works with women and goddesses relation have been categories according to the main deities recognized in the composition. It helps to build some interpretation but one should not hesitate to see something much more private and personal in what we have named Durga, Shakti or whatever. Mythology and art are not very bound to logic.
