We moved out of Kansas City, Missouri and now live in Mililani, Hawaii
I don't have the early pictures, but I'll tell you what I remember. Grandpa Patteen had a farm with my father James Arthur Patteen. The farm was in Coleman, Michigan which is the upper peninsula of the country. Grandpa married Mary Elizabeth Crockett and I remember them both very clearly, although I am now 70 years old. I lived there my first 5 years, until my father and mother divorced. My mother took me and my sister to live in Brooklyn, New York with my grandmother.
I have nothing but happy memories of the farm - growing crops, lots of animals, and my father built our house with his own hands. We had no electric or running water, but it was like we were pioneers. I don't remember my great-grandfather.
Now to tell you something really interesting. You probably heard of the very famous Davy Crockett. I am also a direct descendant of Davy's grand-parents through my grand-mother Mary Crockett!! The grand-parents and most of their children were murdered by Indians. However, two sons were not home and lived. We are the descendants from one son and Davy Crockett was a first descendant of the other son.
Well, it was good hearing from you. Regards, Sharyn
