It sounds almost too good to be true:
a cheap and simple drug that kills almost all cancers by switching off their “immortality”. The drug, dichloroacetate (DCA), has already been used for years to treat rare metabolic disorders and so is known to be relatively safe.
It also has no patent, meaning it could be manufactured for a fraction of the cost of newly developed drugs.
Evangelos Michelakis of the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, and his colleagues tested DCA on human cells cultured outside the body and found that it killed lung, breast and brain cancer cells, but not healthy cells. Tumours in rats deliberately infected with human cancer also shrank drastically when they were fed DCA-laced water for several weeks...

A couple of quotes used by Steve Ransom in his latest piece, Death by Doctoring.
Many medical oncologists recommend chemotherapy for virtually any tumor, with a hopefulness undiscouraged by almost invariable failure." Albert Braverman, MD. 1991 Lancet 337 p. 901, "Medical Oncology in the 90s."
ADD: Then there is this, from Allen Levin, MD, UCSF: "Most cancer patients in this country [US] die of chemotherapy. Chemotherapy does not eliminate breast, colon, or lung cancers. This fact has been documented for over a decade, yet doctors still use chemotherapy for these tumors."
ADD: Now, certainly, you would think that some US newspaper of repute, or even a supermarket tabloid, would blast these and other similar quotes across their pages. And yet this is not the case. Didn't happen. Isn't happening.
ADD: The chemo beat goes on. The music keeps playing. And the sheep are led to their slaughter.
ADD: The money keeps pouring out of the US government for still more research on these drugs. The big cancer foundations are still raising massive monies from private and corporate sources for research on these same drugs.
ADD: The pharmaceutical companies are still jamming more of these drugs into the pipeline, and the FDA is still approving them as safe and effective.
ADD: And where is a citizen group arising with outrage and determination, a group called, for example, Citizens Against Chemo? Nowhere. If there is one, it's well below the public radar screen.
ADD: Maiming and death by poison IS a crime. So where are the courts and the prosecutors?
ADD: I suggest a bill for introduction into the Congress. It reads: "Treatment of solid tumors with chemotherapy is, from this date, considered a crime of poisoning. In addition, all medical boards will cancel the licenses of physicians who employ this outlawed 'treatment.'"
ADD: Not hard to write. Not hard to read. Not hard to understand. Not hard to use in criminal prosecutions.
ADD: Any senators and congressmen out there who want to sign on as sponsors of this bill?
ADD: At last, we could put the FDA to good use. Instead of searching for deaths from herbs, this vaunted agency could reach across the divide and join hands with citizens in an unprecedented show of good will.
ADD: For readers who have been asking for solutions, how about starting that activist group? How about amassing a stunning brief which will flesh out this ongoing crime?
ADD: If you can put together 10 people who are really ready to go out and do battle--no maybes, please--I will waive my usual $7 million an hour fee and offer free advice on further organizing and PR efforts.
ADD: And say, Mr. Koppel, and say, Oprah, both of you appear ready to pack it in and move into your golden years. How about a few parting shots that will engrave your names in the Book for all time as true champions of justice?
ADD: Citizens Against Chemotherapy. Mothers Against Chemotherapy. The possibilities are vast. Or would you rather spend a few hours a week soothing the brows of small children who are being poisoned to death at some of our best hospitals?
ADD: And you, Mr. O'Reilly. Your star is at the zenith. Want to step out into thin air and take a risk for which you will always be remembered? And you, Mr. Art Bell. When are you scheduling a four-hour show filled with interviews of MDs who know the truth about chemo? Or is your courage forever linked to more arcane topics?
ADD: Chemotherapy has created a desert wasteland far more extensive than any of the Genghis Khans of our past.
