The most popular chip ever made. Still in worldwide use
today. Chip is found in the Cybernet chassis. A
member of the Motorola family, it uses straight binary
programming with internal pull-down resistors and a
negative-going PD output. Modification for additional
channels is a simple matter of changing the programming or the
loop mixing crystal(s). The chip is widely used in the
18-channel Australian rigs and citizen band transceivers, where
the only real difference is in the Channel Selector switch.

Changing the mixer crystal is most commonly done when jumping up to the 10-Meter HAM band. Since there's no intention of ever using the rig again for CB, it can be permanently retune at the higher frequency. But many of you are still expanding from the CB band and adding an extra 40 or 80 channels. The European models like those from HAM International, Major, and SuperStar were basically just American model with the extra mixing crystals already there.
