The lapel flip : bullet or wind??

Some have argues, based on Connally's coat, that the lapel movement cannot be linked to a bullet. The argument is as follows: the hole in the coat is too low to explain the lapel flip.

See http://www.whoshotjfk.co.uk/SBT/Lepel_flap.htm

This looks convincing, but it is not.

Here is a reproduction of Kennedy's coat (from the above mentioned site), of Connally's wounds and of Connally's shirt.

Apparently, these people did not notice that the hole in the coat is not consistent with the Governor's wounds.

I think the problem is that they forget that a coat is not that close to the body  when you are seated.

On the other hand, a shirt remains close to the body, whatever your position is. Compare the diagram of the exit wound to the shirt : the hole in the coat is not consistent with the wound, but the hole in the shirt is.

Now compare the shirt with the coat, and note the height of the hole in the shirt compared with the lapel of the coat.

Do you see? The bullet went through the shirt at about the height of the lapel, "pushed" the coat to the effect that the lapel flipped, and went through the coat at some lower location for one of the following reasons:

- position of the coat

- bullet going down.
