Juan Carlos Tolosa
(Córdoba, Argentina, 1966)
 

 

 
From 1986 untill 1989 he studied composition at the University of Córdoba. In 1989 he leaves for Europe to study composition at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels where he obtained first prices of Composition under P-B Michel and D. Capelletti.
During successive workshops at the Ars Musica festival of contemporary music he assisted composition classes by Berio, Lutoslawski, Ligeti, Boulez, Stockhausen, Ferneyhough, Dusapin, Xenakis, Lindberg, Francesconi and Rihm.

His music has been played in Europe, South-America and Japan. Out of his pure musical compositons and 'Musical Theatre' he collaborated with choreographers as Marián Del Valle, Barbare Manzetti and Gabriela Carrizo and with movie makers as Giovanni Cioni and Paco Aragón. In 1995 he was one of the co-founders of Black Jackets Company.

Since 1998 he works in close collaboration with Yannick Willox for the realisation of the electronics & tapes.

He teaches alternating music esthetic at the Institut Dalcroze (Brussels) and at the National University of Córdoba.
In 2000 he produced a contemporary music series for the Argentin national radio. In this same year he started to work as a concuctor with Black Jackets Company.

In 2001 he co-founded the Córdoba Ensamble (Argentina), of which he is the conductor and artistic director.

Lately he recorded a CD with jazz pianist Germán Náger (music for piano duo).
