(info based on Frederik L. Schodt's Dreamland Japan)

Nakayoshi's (litt: good friends) target is young girls. It is one of the oldest magazines for young girls in Japan. It sells around 1.8 million copies per month. It is published by Koudansha.

Recently, Nakayoshi tried, under influence of a new editor, a new line of stories: instead of the traditional girl/boy-firstlove stories, more fantasy oriented stories were featured. Sailor Moon has been the most successful of them all.

Merchandising is very important for Nakayoshi: the coordination between the story in the magazine and the surrounding industry is very tight.
