The Oni, a race of aliens have come to invade Earth. However, they'll
give their plans if someone can defeat them in their national sport: tag.
Ataru Moroboshi is chosen by their computer to represent Earth. He
initially refuses, but agrees after he sees his opponent, the beautiful
Lum. There's just one thing he hasn't been told: Lum can fly! And how are
you supposed to catch someone who flies away the moment you get near

Ataru manages to accidentally summon a devil while examining a bump
on the back of his head with a mirror. Unable to go back into the mirror,
he is forced to stay with Ataru. Cherry, a Buddhist monk promises to send
him back to his world, but Ataru and his girlfriend Shinobu have serious
doubt about his ability to do so. {GBL}

Ataru's friends have all fallen in love with Lum and they want her
back! They work out a plan but it's only a partial success. A taxi-ufo
sucks them up and drops them off at Ataru's house. They refuse to pay the
(gigantic) fee and soon ufo's are causing havoc all over the world. Lum
is the only one with enough cash to pay for Ataru but she's got one

|
Lum starts a search for Ataru, who ran away from home as soon as she
settled in. The latter one is recognized while having a meal and has to
flee. He literally bumps into Sakura, a Shinto priestess. Sakura, who is
haunted by just about every evil spirit in existence, vows to rid him of
the evil that is haunting him. {GBL}

Lum gets thrown out of the house by Ataru because she keeps interfering
with his phonecalls to Shinobu. She still manages to interfere with his
phonecalls and the situation quickly escalates. It becomes a test to see
who'll give up first. If one of them'll give up that is. {GBL}

|
Lum's ex-boyfriend Rei comes to Earth to reclaim his lost love. Lum
however, has no intention whatsoever to be his girlfriend again (who'd
want a tiger-striped cow for boyfriend anyway). Needless to say, Rei gets
extremely upset and challenges Ataru to a duel to the death...sort of.

|
If there's one person in the world who can succeed in getting buried
under four feet of snow while lying sick in bed it's Ataru. It turns out
that Lum's childhood friend Oyuki chose his closet door to get rid of all
the excess snow on her planet. Ataru follows her back to her planet, only
to find out that Lum's there too. And that's not the end of his bad luck

|
Only wanting to show Ataru how much she loves him, she accidentally
kills him with one of her electric shocks. His body is taken over by a
drunken alien and he comes back to life. Lum, not knowing he's been taken
over, is rather pleased with his new attitude and they go out. Shortly
thereafter, the wife of the alien arrives and things get really out of

Rei still hasn't given up on Lum. He has even learned some Japanese
to try to win her back. His efforts are in vain as Lum isn't very
impressed with his marriage proposal. What follows is a wild chase
where Rei not only messes up the park but other people's lovelife as well.

On Earth Setsubun is already over but on the planet of the Oni it has
yet to start. Being "married" to one Ataru is forced to join the Oni in
their celebration of this festival. They celebrate it a somewhat different
way, but what's more important: one of the opponents is quite a babe.{GBL}

As their parents are a few days from home, Lum an Ataru have to take
care of themselves. Lum's cooking results in an explosion and a myriad of
remote controlled fighter planes invades the Moroboshi residence. Cherry
and Sakura happen to be in the neighbourhood and offer to help them but
then their guardian spirits start fighting among each other. {GBL}

While cleaning the school grounds, Ataru finds a small egg. He
doesn't know what animal it's from but it's quite a beautiful one. Things
start to get really strange as Ataru notices the egg has grown since the
last time he took a look at it. Before long, it gets REALLY big. {GBL}

for him, Lum knows how to create a shortcut to school through subspace.
As was to be expected, Lum makes a mistake and they find themselves ten
years into the future. Getting back to the past isn't such a problem but
what to do with that kid who bears a striking resemblance to Ataru? {GBL}

It's pretty annoying to find out someone's controlling your body.
It's even more annoying to find out it's your 'wife' controlling it by
means of a voodoo doll. Ataru makes a Cherry-doll so he can rip his head
off but doesn't have much success in doing so. He does give Lum a great
idea though. {GBL}

On a schooltrip, Ataru finds a strange thing that looks like a dried
out animal. A bit later he is 'attacked' by a kappa. It turns out that the
thing he found is a dried out kappa and the other one is it's wife. By
way of thanks for saving him, the kappa takes him to their underwater
palace. {GBL}

Ataru is completely fed up with the electric shocks Lum keeps giving
him, so he asks Cherry if he knows a way to seal off her powers. The
ribbon he is given by Megane later that day really works but how long will
it take before Lum finds out exactly why he gave her the ribbon in the

In this series you can expect the unexpected. Who would have thought
that Sakura would ask Ataru out on a date? Since she's the one who's
paying for it, Ataru's parents have no objection against him and Lum going
to a disco. On the way to the disco they encounter Ozuno Tsubame, who
claims to be Sakura's lover. If she already has a boyfriend, why on earth
would she ask Ataru to join them? {GBL}

After eating some candy Lum gave him and a manju Cherry wanted to
bury, Ataru's body splits into two: a good-son-prototype and an extra
lecherous part. Not very surprisingly, the two of them can't get along.
The difference between them is too big. The best option would be to

|
|
Another alien, Kurama, comes to Earth to find a mate. By tradition,
she has to mate with the man who wakes her with a kiss. Unfortunately for
her, a drunken karasutengu mistakes Ataru for a hunk and he's the one to
wake her. Kurama has no intention to mate with such a moron but she can't
break tradition either so she has only one alternative: reeducate him!
