Yahiko and Misao take a break from their search. Yahiko trains. Oibore returns from his journey with a bottle of his favorite perfume -- a perfume which is also Kenshin's favorite, and he stirs himself enough to demand that it be left beside him. Tae's place is rebuilt. Yahiko accompanies a downcast Tsubame on an errand, and vainly tries to cheer her up, forbidden to reveal the truth about Kaoru. Back at the police station, Kujiranami begins to fight his way to freedom... he finds himself a custom made rapid fire grenade launcher and destroys the station. {EIR}

Yahiko shin no tatakai sono ichi
Kujiranami tears himself free of the wreakage, searching for the Battousai. Only a few policemen are left alive, but one of them, Shin'ichi, observes the brute heading for town in horror... as Yahiko continues his walk with Tsubame, she talks him into telling her the truth. But before he can, Shin'ichi begins evacuation the town, and Yahiko springs into action. Demanding details, he makes a plan and puts it in action... but a worried Tsubame-chan grabs his sleeve. Assuring her that he'll survive, he runs off anyway... and thus begins the mighty shinai vs grenade launcher battle. {EIR}

Yahiko's strategy works perfectly, running around the big man, dodging his fire, until he has his back to Shin'ichi. Shin'ichi hits him, as does Yahiko from the front, tearing at the connection between the grenade launcher and Kujiranami's arm. As the other cops see this, they grab sticks of their own and surround the bleeding giant... and a soft wail is heard. A small child is wandering up the street, crying for his father. Kujiranami aims a grenade at him as Yahiko rushes to grab him... {EIR}

Yahiko and the boy are blown away by the force of the explosion. Tsubame looks up from her tears as explosion after explosion rocks the town. As Kujiranami grins in victory, Yahiko stands up from the rubble, battered, but alive, the untouched child in his arms. Ordering the child to run, Yahiko stands to fight again, as Kujiranami sees the spirit of the Battousai within him. Tsubame-chan is running, headed for Kenshin... {EIR}

Yahiko shin no tatakai sono yon
Misao and Megumi hear of the fight, and run to help. Aoshi and Saitoh begin the ride back from slaughtering all of Heishin's men. Yahiko cuts a leaf in half with his chi. As Kujiranami smashes the grenade launcher down at the boy, Yahiko crosses his hands to catch it... but it's too heavy, and he receives a crushing blow on the back of his head. Enraged, he slides under the weapon, leaping up the front of the beast and shoving his shinai into a weak point... but what would be a crippling injury on a normal man is merely irritating to the monster, who flattens Yahiko beneath his palm. Tsubame arrives at Kenshin's resting place, only to be stopped by a bandaged hand. {EIR}

Tsubame falls to her knees, begging Kenshin to save Yahiko's life. He makes no response, and she is led away by kindly hands. As Oibore talks to him, though, Kenshin's hands begin to tighten on his sword, and his thoughts begin to climb out of the depths. Standing now, he grips his sword... Yahiko rises too, pushing the gigantic hand upwards by sheer will. Kenshin pulls, and shatters the chain that binds his sword. Left in the ruins, a contemplating Oibore chats with the leader of the locals. {EIR}

Sono toki, ichijin no kaze
Running blindly, Tsubame trips and falls. As she picks herself up, her tears turn to joy as a blinding flash passes her, the glint of a drawn sakaba sword. As Oibore talks, he removes his hat to fan himself. Holding up his hair, is the same pin Tomoe wore... grinning, the old man leaves for Kyoto, where is daughter is buried. Yahiko forces the hand off of him, but is too exhausted to react as Kujiranami grips his head between two fingers and raises him into the air... and is destroyed by a 9-point attack from behind. Kenshin has returned. {EIR}

Samurai kara shizoku e
A berserk Kujiranami fires at Kenshin, but Kenshin flies under it, sword reversed, and cut the grenade launcher off his arm. Kujiranami's eyes change color from the shock, and he is once again sane. He begs Kenshin to give him an honorable death, but Kenshin refuses. Yahiko, of all people, talks Kujiranami into turning himself in. Megumi rushes over to attend to Yahiko's numerous wounds. {EIR}

Ato yokka, ato hitori
Enishi is fully recovered, and training again. He tells Kaoru he's decided his revenge is incomplete, and he must kill Kenshin. Kenshin and Yahiko are both in bed, recovering. Saitoh stops by to invite them all along with him, when he attacks Enishi in a few weeks. Tsubame cradles Yahiko's hand... Meanwhile, in a town down the coast, a young girl is being accosted by several drunken thugs. Sano deals with the matter harshly. {EIR}
