One day, Miaka and Yui, two female high school students, are reading the "Jintenchisho" in the school library. Having finished reading the book, they are suddenly sucked up into it. When they open their eyes, they find themselves in a world long ago. Miaka will encounter Tamahome in this fantasy world and will become a priestess of 'Suzaku'. Fushigi Yuugi is a very popular series which pleases also to the male public in general, in spite of being shoujo. Also known as "Mysterious Play".

The story ended in volume fourteen, but a new cycle was started in the last four volumes. This second cycle is disliked by a lot of people.

Mai is a shy girl who has a crush on the smart, dorky Nimura. Whenever she tries to talk to him, she stutters horribly and feels like a fool. For her sixteenth birthday, her parents give her an electronic notebook. The notebook's fortune telling abilities seem impossibly accurate, then when Mai accidentally types in 'epotrance', a handsome guy pops out of it! This guy, Takuma, is from the Electronic World and has been assigned to Mai's notebook. 'Epotrance' is the secret word which allows his people to communicate to humans. He gives her notebook the added function of allowing her to become anyone whose name she types in. You can just imagine all the hijinks that could happen with such an ability. Perhaps in the guise of other people, Mai can gain some self confidence. {PED}

Yuu-topia Collection volume 1. This manga has three stories about Ringo, a really smart girl whose mother arranges for her to be a tutor. Ringo thinks she'll be helping a junior high schooler for high school entrance exams and is pleased she'll be working with the sibling of sweet, handsome Minori, a senior at her high school. She's more than a little surprised when she walks in on Budou changing - he's a junior in *high* school, not *junior high*! Budou is a belligerent, uncooperative guy who's convinced he's not smart enough to make it to college. It's up to Ringo to try to help him change his perspective. {PED}

Appare Jipangu! [Wonderful Japan!]
serialized on Flower Comics Sho Comi,
2 volumes @ Y390
[ 01:9802| 02:____]
A very lighthearted series, that ended abruptly as Watase moved on to other projects. It's full of insanity and is best read with an empty mind as recommended by Watase herself.

Imadoki!
イマドキ!
serialized on Shoujo Comics,
5 volumes @ Y410
[ 01:0008| 02:____| 03:____| 04:____| 05:0107]
The story of Tanpopo, a girl from the countryside, who enters a prestigious high school through examination. A naive girl with a cheerful outlook, she struggles to make friends and bring life to Kugyou's world, using the philosophy of flowers. {DCD}

Stays away from the serious theme of Fushigi Yuugi and Ayashi no Ceres, instead takes on the lighter tones of her previous short stories. So far it looks like following the same script of Hana Yori Dango, (rich boy, poor girl, school bullying, etc.) Quality works, but old hat none the less. {CPK}

Alice 19th
ありす19th
serialized on Flower Comics Sho Comi,
7 volumes @ Y390
[ 01:0110| 02:0201| 03:0204| 04:0207| 05:0210| 06:0301| 07:0304]
Very loosely based on Alice in Wonderland (Watase takes the main characters of Alice in Wonderland). Alice tries to rescue a white rabbit from getting overrun by a car, but while doing that, she's equally rescued by Kyou, Alice's sempai and the boy she has a crush on. The rabbit returns to Alice as a rabbit-girl and tells Alice that she can make her wishes come true.
