Ashibe Yuuho あしべゆうほ

Overall, a very competent artist and a wonderful story teller. Can do stories ranging from horror to comedy, but her fantasy works are the best. Made debut with "Mademoiselle ni goyoujin" in 1970 on Bessatsu Shoujo Comic.

Arianrod, a black-haired, green-eyed "torikaekko" (Celts were light haired people, so if a child was born with a really dark hair, they believed that elves/fairies came and exchanged the baby with their own), with a minor druid training, starts on a quest to find the fabled crystal dragon to get help in revenging her clan that was destroyed by Balar of the Evil Eyes. The elves/fairies call Arianrod "Daughter of Man", but also, "The Staffless One"... A fantasy adventure that incorporates many of the Celtic beliefs and magic, while at the same time, retains the flavor of a "real" thing. The artist has obviously done lots of homework concerning the Celtic lores and Celtic and Roman histories. Fantastic work, except the artist was suffering from "artist's elbow" and the series was halted at book 14. It started up again much later,
I still consider this to be VERY worthwhile. Continuous novel-type story. {MNI}

Minako, who is the bodily incarnation of Venus, is shown the stupidity and cruelty of humans by Deimos, Venus' brother. Deimos was once a god of Olympus before his love affair with his sister, Venus, was discovered by Zeus. Deimos was turned into what humans would call a demon, while his sister was tied upside down in the Underworld to slowly rot away. Deimos needs to get Minako's acquiescence to come with him to the Underworld as his bride so that Venus, her body half rotting as a punishment for their forbidden love, can take over that body to escape the curse. But Minako will not acquiesce, while Deimos discovers a strange emotion in him as well... Series-type story. {MNI}
