This John was certainly the son of another John (according to death certificate) and not David. He was still a weaver in 1834. Birth certificate states that John sr was a weaver in 1793 and John jr was named after his grandfather, so there were in fact 3 generations of Johns.

Alexander Livingston b abt. 1805
The same age as Alexander Paterson Livingstone, son of David and Elizabeth Moncur.
This Alexander finally became a Church Officer in the Free Church.
His father’s name seems to have been Duncan and his mother Margaret. But to add yet more confusion the Arbroath surfaceman Duncan Livingston, with his wife Margaret, appear to be too young to be his parents.
