![]() °Johnclairetang.com is the domain name for the site portal which has links off to other web pages. Many visitors have found information on the pages interesting but would like to know more background information about the site. The site is a means of sharing our news about ourselves, the family and the work in Belgium. Firstly some biographical details. Many of our friends know us but we are conscious that visitors and new contacts would like to know more. My wife, Claire, and myself, John, were called to serve God in Belgium in 1982, the year we were married. We began an evangelistic work in Ransart and worked amongst young people. Several teams from Youth with a mission, Youth for Christ and Operation Mobilisation also came to work with us. We used rock groups, children's puppet evangelists, coffee bar work, films, childrens' club etc. We went back to England as a family in 1983 to finish off missionary training at All Nations Christian College and spent a year in Herts as a family (Johanan had just been born). The following year we were invited to work in the Wasmes church in the mining area in the south of Belgium. Work involved evangelistic, youth and pastoral work with a schedule that included a satellite church on the french border and visits to the old people's home attached to the church with about 60 beds. In 1986 we were invited to work as pastor in the Mon's church and to join the ministry team. We spent 7 years in pastoring and evangelisation before stepping into our present work which is a work amongst older students between 16 to 21 yrs of age in colleges and schools through religious education. We continue to fellowship with christians in the Mons church who live in our village in Havré and continue to be a witness through contacts with neighbours and contacts through the schools and the orchestra in the village. We have live in Havré since 1986 and our children have all been through the local primary school. Johanan, Melody, Alison and Alexi born in 1983, 1985, 1987, 1989 respectively are now teenagers and continue their studies in Mons, a large university town. This site grew out of a few makeshift web-pages in 1996 and has since been constantly changed to suit peoples' needs. Our aim has been to provide information and news to friends who support us and care for us in different countries throughout the world which is the reason we did not need to give much information about ourselves. We hope this helps to understand our work. God is faithful. ![]() ° Our Monthly news can be found via the first link pointing to "news". The biographical overview gives much cause to be thankful to God's for his plan in our lives. It grew out of preparations we were making last year for a visit to Singapore and Sri-Lanka invited by my sister. Mum was able to give us more details of her family in Chine, of the relationship between my great-grandmother and Watchman Nee's ministry. Uncles and aunts we visited in Singapore were direct descendants and fruits of my great-grandmother's ministry and family. I was able to trace my grandfather's work as an artist as well. Mum's shared, often with humour, of her dad's career as an artist. Sent to university in the USA to study medecine, il returned with a fine arts degree! Some of his work is catalogued on the site following an exhibition in Singapore, as many of his works were lost during the second world war when he was seeking refuge in Malaysia. The theme of his work in the catalogue is of his research in the Peking Imperial Palace whilst he was professor of art at Peking University. Unfortunately many of the works in the catalogue are dispersed throughout the world as they were bought by different art experts and connoisseurs. His works had been assembled especially for the exhibition. ![]() ° You can use this link to send us an email. |
