difficult to reach, emerging summit of an volcano 60 millions years old, isolated from every continent, far away in the Indian Ocean. Until very recently, it was only colonized by crabs... The best known - and more numerous (more than 120.000.000!) - are the Christmas Red Crabs, a unique species which evolved on the spot and leave only on land. They only go back to the shores to lay their eggs, a dangerous exercice in which some drown...
There are also some very cute Blue Crabs (which eat the Red ones)


For some historical reasons, Christmas island is now a part of Australia but most people don't know that (even some custom officers in Perth airport!)...
