The Lord of the Rings, both books and films, are, in my own humble opinion, the best invention since electricity. Tolkien proved him to be the One Father of Modern Fantasy to Rule them All! Even though these books are quite old, there still hasn't been a single series of books so succesful in a Fantasy world which is so detailed, that we know more about Middle-Earth than we know of our own world.
