A.M.

He was making a comeback in 93 though, scoring a spectacular late winner against Hibs in the League Cup. Injury ruined that comeback. From that point on, he has been struggling with a lot of injuries, but it didn't prevent him from keeping on scoring for his beloved team, and at the mean time even starting a TV-career. He joined John Parrot as a teamcaptain in A question of sport, and started his own chat-show alongside Fred MacAuley.
He never lost his passion for the game though, and kept on breaking records and gaining honours. He has hit 355 goals for Rangers (club record!), including 13 in Europe (also a club record!) and 23 (inluding 2 hat-tricks) against Celtic, and he's the only Scottish player to win the UEFA Golden Boot (2x!)
He got awarded MBE for his services to the game, and in August 93 over 42000 people packed into Ibrox for Ally's tesimonial. He scored Scotland's only goal in the Euro 96 finals, in the match against Switzerland.
When Lady Di died in a car accident in 97, Scotland were due to play at the day of the funeral. But a grief-stricken Coisty asked Craig Brown not to be selected, as he found it not justified to play on this sad day. Other players followed his example and the FA decided to postpone the match.
In August 97 he achieved Jimmy Smith's "All-time-All-game" record of 419 goals. Beat that!
98 brought a lot of mixed feelings to Ally. Rangers' 9-year reign was ended by Celtic, and they lost the Scottish Cup final, although Ally scored a goal, and looked like the only one who still believed in it. But Hearts won 2-1 and as Ally was sitting on the grass, it brought tears to his eyes. It was one of the sadest moments I've ever seen in my life. Rangers lost everything. It was Ally's last game for Rangers. He hadn't been offered a new contract by Dick Advocaat, who followed in the footsteps of Walter Smith as Rangers manager.
As if that wasn't enough, Craig Brown didn't include him in the Scotland squad for the World Cup finals in France. Everyone was shocked. It was the one thing he had aimed for on his 35th birthday and his last chance to ever be in the World Cup finals again...Scotland never got past the first round.....
