Urdu is the national language of Pakistan. It stems from, or is influenced by
Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian and Turkish.
It shares a substantial amount of basic vocabulary with India's national language: Hindi.
The grammar of both languages is virtually the same. However, while Hindi is written from
left to right in Devanagari script, Urdu most often is written in a
Persian-Arabic script: Nastaleeq or Naskh. It is written from right to left.
