As a kid I was already fascinated by mechanics, especially motorsports.
On the black & white TV-screen (those were the days...) I watched at the commentaries on the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, Monaco, as well as those on the Le Mans' 24 hours.
That same period, reading the weekly comic-strip paper "Tin-Tin" I met Michel Vaillant.
All his adventures at Le Mans, Indianapolis and Monaco, were copied at home, on the big table in the diningroom.
A track was "built" with wooden blocks and

shoeboxes were used for the grand-stand and the pits. "Tin soldiers" were used for spectators.
Plastic cars coming out as a "surprise" of some kind of soapbox were used for racingcars. They were models of the sportscars racing those days at the Le Mans' 24 hours. There were red ones (Ferrari ?) green's (Aston-Martin, Jaguar ?) and even a blue one, wich I called the "Vaillante" (of course)
When I was 14 years old I was dreaming about slotracing, with my nose against the show-window of a commercial slotracing-centre at the Diksmuidelaan in Berchem nearby Antwerp.

At that time I was in the possession of a small Faller AMS HO-set. This set was replaced in 1969 by a Scalextric-set "made in France".
The set's codenumber : "38 EXT", with cars C15, Ford Mirage and C16, Ferrari P4.
Married in 1975, Nicole and I moved to a bigger flat in 1976. There I had the opportunity to install a permanent Scalextric-track, wich was called the "Hufo Racing Track". Racing was done with members of the family, and so the "Hufo Racing Team" was created, as well as the "formula one"-logo.

So, 1976 can be called the year of foundation.
By way of many "roundabouts" and international correspondence in the 80's,
I suddenly met the people of Freezslot and Slotracing Merlijn in Wezembeek-Oppem. The names of these two Belgian Slotracing "monuments : Willy Heerwegh and Raymond Van Campenhout.
Soon I joined the Slotracingclub at Wezembeek-Oppem.
In the beginning I only participated at clubraces, but it didn't take long to catch the slotracing-virus.

The 1993 Belgian Championship's participators list was filled up with... yes, my name of course.

And so a dream came through...
