Double Olympic Champions from Nagano and Salt Lake City

6 competitors had gold medals from Nagano and Salt Lake City and could have made it to the list of triple Olympic Champions:

Failed in their attempts to win a third gold:

• Biathlon relay, women : Germany: Katrin Apel won silver
• Short Track, 5000m Relay, men : Canada : Eric Bedard won silver

Was in Torino, but did not compete in the event she won two golds in:

• Biathlon relay, women : Germany: Uschi Diesl was not selected to the team

Were no longer active in their sport:

• Cross-Country Skiing, 4x10 km, men : Norway : Thomas Alsgaard
• Speed Skating, 500m, women: Catriona LeMay Doan
• Short Track, 5000m Relay, men : Canada : Marc Gagnon

Two other competitors were among the many who had two gold from some other former games, and they achieved a third gold at Torino:

Kjetil-André Aamodt achieved the triple in an unusual manner. He won the Super-G in 1992, 2002 and 2006!

Sven Fischer did it slightly easier : 1994, 1998 and 2006.
