In the 1908 individual event, Mallon lists 95 competitors, but even he recognizes that there should have been 97, since a competitor is known to have placed 96th, and there was one non-finisher. There are therefore two unknown gymnasts. Volker Kluge says that P.A. Lemaire competed. Mallon has that name among the non-competing entrants. Since there is a Paulin Lemaire who competed in 1900 and 1920, I choose to believe he also competed in 1908, leaving just one totally unknown competitor.

At nineteen he set a world javelin record of 49.31 m in 1899, then broke
it nine times to push it to 62.32 m in 1912. In 1900, there was no javelin
competition yet, but he went to Paris anyway and competed (rather successfully)
at High Jump and Pole Vault.
He also won the first olympic appearance of javelin, at Athina in 1906, and
got bronze at a pentathlon there.
