Herman's Global Ratings

121 Countries in one Table

This is an attempt to get all cricket-playing countries into one single rating, regardless of the type of cricket played.

Read about the way this is done below, or just check out the final table here:

The number of days is to be seen as: days played in this year + days in last year / 2 + days the year before / 4 + ...
So this is approximately double the average number of days played per year. England and India play a staggering 2.5 months of cricket every year.

The column ICC lists the current ranking in the WCL (with the 10 full members at numbers 1-10 according to their place in the last WC or CT.

Here is the table of 2008.

How it's done

These ratings are made by adding all ratings, whether for multi-day, one-day, or twenty-twenty matches, at global, zonal, and regional level.

All ratings are transposed to "runs per days" and "number of days played". For each separate ranking, a correction figure is calculated, such that the average of the ratings does not change with regards to all previously added ratings. Then the several ratings for a same team are averaged, using the number of days as weights.
