Herman's First Class International Ratings

In addition to the full members of the ICC, the Associate Members have their own first-class championship: the ICC Intercontinental Cup.

This has been staged for the first time in 2004, with three countries from every continent competing in a round robin, and the winners moving on to a semi-final and final (held in the UAE in 2004, in Namibia in 2005, and in England in 2007 (for 2006)). The fourth session has spanned two years. The fifth series (2009-10) sees the entry of Afghanistan, the addition of Zimbabwe (nominally an "A" team), and the start of a second series, the "shield".

Herman's ICCIC Ratings after the two finals (2010-12-08) :

team

Zimbabwe 43.1 26.3 +336.8 3.1
Ireland 36.9 25.6 +225.1 5.4
Afghanistan 37.8 28.6 +184.1 4.3
Namibia 31.7 28.3 +67.8 4.7
Scotland 22.6 21.6 +19.0 4.6
Kenya 32.0 33.6 -31.1 5.0
UAE 29.5 32.5 -60.5 3.4
Netherlands 26.8 34.4 -152.1 5.1
Canada 26.0 33.6 -153.7 4.5
Uganda 27.5 37.4 -198.3 1.2
Bermuda 19.0 40.9 -439.4 2.9
27.0 27.0

M is the number of matches used for the calculation (actually the number of wickets fallen and taken, divided by 40). A match from last year counts for 50%, the year before 25% and so on.

I have included the play-off match between Namibia and Nepal, even though it was not classed an official ICC-Intercontinental Cup first class match.

Hong Kong, Malaysia, USA and Cayman Islands have played in previous editions, but they have now been omitted from the (shown) ratings.

You can find Ratings for the past few seasons here.

the West Indies

A second area where first class international matches are played is the West Indies. The matches between the islands are also first class. In the recent past, Kenya, West Indies "B" and the "Combined Campuses and Colleges" have joined in the competition, so these entities are also present in these ratings:
