It is  paramount that the affiliates keep control of what they want to achieve with their participation in our activities.

All protocol rules are intended to facilitate the running of an event. Organizers have the options to :
- Create their own set of regulations
  (or copy existing ones)
- Use their own crew to run the event
  (or request assistance)
- Run "open" or "invitational" events

1.      Affiliation to the International Jousting League
1.1    Riders affiliation is free
1.1.2
Riders affiliation is obtained through application form
1.1.3 Riders affiliation includes access to IJL msg board
1.2    Event affiliation is free
1.2.1 Event affiliation is obtained through application form
1.2.2 Event affiliation is voted on by IJL Board of Representatives

1.2.3 Event affiliation  necessitates 10 days  examination period.
1.2.4 Event affiliation can only be granted to IJL affiliated individual or Group.
1.2.5 Event affiliation can only be awarded once a year per division to the same organizor.



2.     Regulation
2.1     Affiliated events are run under their own regulations
2.2     Affiliated events regulations is advertised on IJL web page
2.3     Non regulated topics are considered free of interpretation


3.     Marshalling
3.1   The Organizer is in charge of marshalling their affiliated event
3.2   IJL Auditor examines respect of advetised rules and marshalling
3.3   The Auditor submits  results of the affiliated tournament to the BOR

3.4   Failure to provide IJL Auditor report 3 weeks after the event results
         in affiliation removal and non ranking of participating affiliates

4.     Ranking
4.1    Ranking is based on performances in affiliated events
4.2    Ranking is computed from first  participation
4.3    Ranking procedure is established by IJL BOR
4.4    Minimum number of  IJL competitors in a rankable tournament is 4
         Gains are : 8 pts for 1st, 6 pts for 2nd, 4 pts for 3rd, 2 pts for all others
         Bonus  : participants will get +1 point for every opponent outplaced

         Ranking : The ranking is the average gain of an individual

                          in affiliated events for a period of 2 years
         Ranking is published on IJL web page.


5.     Mounts
5.1    Well being of mounts is paramount. Organizer is in charge of stables
5.2    Veterinary requirements are stipulated in event affiliation form
5.3    Mount sharing is organized with written consent of the horse owner
5.4    Any mount travelling +3Hr will arrive the day before tournament

5.5   Any mount travelling +8Hr will rest 24 Hr before tournament


6.     Insurance and legal matters
6.1    Participants will provide proof of insurance for damage to 3rd party
6.2    Organizers must publish local legal obligations for participants
6.3    Participants are to respect legal obligations of the visited country

7.     IJL BOARD
7.1    IJL is administrated by a Board of Representatives (BOR)
7.2    Teams of minimum 5 affiliates are awarded 1 representative
7.3    Other representative may be voted in by BOR
7.4    BOR operates online and validates decisions with most BOR votes.
7.5    BOR missions : event affiliations supervision, auditors nomination,

                                 external IJL representation, IJL protocol validation...

8.     IJL Award Policy
8.1    Organizers are not required to present awards  in the name of IJL
8.2    Affiliation documents will mention award policy
8.3    There is no IJL  standard regarding nature or value of awards
