Guy Kokken was born in Mechelen, Belgium, on October 14th 1967. As a thirteen year old boy he bought his first camera (a Nikon EM) and started shooting wildlife photography, something he really wanted to do since he was the C.E.O. of a Seal Saving Club. Unfortunately, there wasnt a lot of possibilities for wildlife in Belgium since there were hardly any interesting animals (he could go to the zoo but he hated caged animals or rather, he felt so sorry for them he couldn not stand looking at them) . So, he changed his domain to people (LOADS of people in little Belgium) and started making portraits of friends and families. At seventeen he started photography school in Antwerp and flunked dramatically, he moved to Coloma school in Mechelen and came out with a photography degree at the age of twenty. After that he quickly ran down his list of twelve jobs and thirteen accidents (nuclear plants, plastic factories, the harbour of Antwerp) and finally became an "Independent Photographer" at the age of twenty-seven. Starting mainly with press photos for Belgian bands he soon found himself working for London based music magazines such as Vox and The Wire. Nowadays Guy Kokken works for different magazines, record companies and publicity agencies. Amongst his clients are: Record companies: Sony Music, Virgin Records, Warner Music. Magazines: Weekend Knack, Focus, Teek, P-Magazine, Kids and Co. Publicity agencies: Leo Burnett, Euro-RSCG, BLD, Young and Rubicam, GV Company. Fashion brands: 2nd SKY. Photo Contest. Hi, I am 34, tall, slim, darkbrown eyes, intelligent, witty and too sexy for my pants. No surprise I got grabbed by a woman. Her name is Isabelle and she gave me this baby. His name is Titus Atilla and he is gonna grow up being an engineer or a balletdancer (or maybe even a cartoon hero). It is the biggest treasure I possess, the sunshine of my life. I have also got a few cameras and I happen to use them a lot...I like the sound of my Pentax 67 IIs shutter. My Leica R4s is a good friend but nowadays I am flirting with a Pentax Optio 430 Digital Camera. I am aware I didn not pay a lot of attention to my Hasselblad XPAN and my Olympus µ (Mju) lately, let alone the Polaroid. I trashed about seven Canon A1s and one Pentax 67. I am also a professional carcrasher. That is expensive so I need to get some money somewhere...I make money practicing my hobby. I sell photos to magazines, record companies, publicity agencies, fashion brands... Strange thing is : I see a framed world and I am always winking with my left eye. Sometimes I get the clickerykicks and then the tickerytricks. My name is Guy Kokken but my friends call me Cockadoodle. I like to eat brussels endives rolled in ham and covered with cheese in the oven. I do not like to eat shit. I love my girlfriend and music. I hate war. I am ashamed to play bass in the band I play bass in. I love animals...but I cannot stay away from meat. Nobody knows the trouble I have seen after I bought my television set last year. Before you guys think otherwise I want it to be clear that: I AM NOT CRAZY! . Oh yes...it all started in 1980 when I was the CEO of a seal saving company (The National Fund for Seal Protection). For them I started making photos of animals...(I was thirteen and had spend all my savings on a Nikon EM). In 1981 I got laid off. (Not too much seals to be protected in Belgium anyway). In 1984 I got laid while hallucinating on LSD. In 1988 I finished photography school and started looking for a job. Been there (nuclear plants, plastic factories, printing centers, photolabs), done that ( grabbing plutonium, fill 50 Kg bags with plastic raisin, put newspapers on transportation pallets, fuck up amateur films in E6...). In 1991 I got laid again, this time on speed. In 1995 I went to New York with my girlfriend and came back without a girlfriend. I started as an independent photographer. In 1997 I went to Israel on a solotrip and came back with a girlfriend. Got laid again! :-)))). Lost the other girlfriend again. Started doing less drugs. 1999, learned to know Isabelle.
