Pour ma part, je suis issu d'une famille de colons au Congo
belge. Mon grand-père maternel, Félicien Delcommenne, est arrivé au
Congo en 1923. Ma grand-mère Elise Delcommenne l'a suivi un an après avec leur fils Pierre,
âgé de 1
an car mon grand-père a dû construire sa maison auparavant (en pisé) pour
l'accueillir.

Concerning me myself,
I issued from a family of colons in the Congo, then
a Belgian Colony. My maternal grandfather, Felicien
Delcommenne arrived in the Congo in 1923. My grandmother
Elise Delcommenne followed him to the Congo one year
later together with their son Peter, then one year old.
The reason was that my grandfather had first to
build a house to welcome her and his son.

Mon grand-père paternel Pierre Gosset, ma grand-mère
Marie Drianne et mon père Raymond Gosset sont partis au Congo en 1946
après la guerre. C'est aussi une autre aventure. Ils ont construit
leur ferme à la Munama près de Lubumbashi. Pour
cela, ils ont dû fabriquer les briques eux-mêmes, assécher
les marécages pour les cultures maraîchères.

My
paternal grandfather Peter Gosset, my grandmother Mary
Drianne and my father Raymond Gosset left for the Congo
in 1946 after the war. It was another adventure
! They built their farm house near the Munama
river in the neighbourhood of Lubumbashi. But
they themselves had to make the bricks for the new house
and they had to drain the swamps as well, in view of
market gardening.
