This is a beginners guide to getting racer latest beta up and running, specifically aimed at multiplayer.

Download racer. I put together a basic package

I have included the Nissan 350Z by Stecki - car shader modifications for racer 0.5.2 beta 4.1 by loungeKid, 1.31.4
As a track I included Schuchter day v3.0 by Johan Revholm aka Snowball - a very good track for multiplayer.

Unzip the package into your preferred folder.

Now you can doubleclick 'config' and choose resolution. I suggest 800x600 and NOT full screen. Then click 'play'

I have setup the package with these controls - as I think they will work for most of you.
Mouse = controls the steering
cursor up = throttle
cursor down = brake
mouse buttons: shift up and down
If you want to change this - click 'Setup controls'. I strongly suggest using a wheel to control racer.

Now you are ready for trying racer out offline, alone, or with (basic) computercontrolled cars.

If you want to try out multiplayer, get on irc channel #racer on irc.enterthegame.com if you want to try/host/join a multiplayer game. Multiplayer is very basic - but works quite well for an early beta - and is heaps of fun. Depending of the time of day there is usually someone around. The racer community is pretty helpful for helping out beginners - so don't be afraid to ask. However - be patient - not everybody has time or is around the computer. (people may idle on #racer)
You will need an IRC client, preferable mIRC - http://www.mirc.com/ - this allows you to talk to other Racer players online.
