Snake - a never ending story - Part 3 : Snake III front mudguard |

Local Kawasaki dealer lent me this front half of a ZX9 mudguard to have a look. I don´t like it - I prefer a little wing to protect the upside-down fork. Still, it is nice to form an idea how I want it to look.

I took a look at an original item and decided it is way too expensive. After market (carbon) stuff is not available for this model. (fork was only 2 years in production) I want to make it myself in carbon. First and biggest problem is making a mold. |

I started making the mold for the front fender. A first try panel-beating half a millimeter thick metal plate was such a disaster that I gave up. I decided to make it up out of small pieces, weld them together and then make it smooth using epoxy.

Two strips of metal for a start. |

And then welding in more strips of metal. |
