I took along my waterpaint and brushes. The kids there loved it! I made a very nice video of them making a total mess.
It was also a rather good activity for them - it poured all afternoon long. I unbolted the box and put it in the big partytent, where the kids could mess all they wanted. |

Unfortunately, if it rains, nothing is left over.

I went on a small holiday to Denmark some time later. Afterwards I decided to change the box a little. The tools and oil was always at the bottom for keeping the weight as low as possible. Unfortunately, if you break down, you have to throw out all the luggage to reach the tools. Rather annoying. So I made a compartment with a small door at the back. It works great, and keeps the tools seperate from the luggage. Avoids getting oil on your spare clothes too :) |

I wanted something more permanent - something personal. I finally had a great idea - combining drawings from different sources with a picture from my own sidecar outfit.
I made a composition on the computer and using see through drawing paper made a nice drawing out of it.
Difficult part was getting it on the box of the sidecar.
I had the drawing enlarged and mirrored. I then put it on the box, ink side down, and using acetone managed to 'smear' the ink a little bit on the box.
Here you see the paper gets transparent when using acetone. |

It leaves only a faint image, but enough for me to get the dimensions correct, and using my own drawing, and the original for added detail, I managed to put it onto the box.
I have to admit - I will never make a carreer out of this. But what I lack in drawing talent, I make up with patience.
I use permanent markers. If it goes wrong, you can use acetone to erase. This can not be done too often - as it leaves a smear.

Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to locate permanent markers in the necessary colors for my drawing. I might use paint to color it. On the other hand - many people told me I should leave it as it is now.
I have also thought about making more of a background for the drawing. The road, some building, trees, maybe some more characters watching the action.
For now I am very happy with the outcome ... it has far exceeded my own expectations. For now I am focusing my attention on other things - maybe later I will get back on this.
I showed a printout of the pics to friends, and got the advice to also put the drawing on a T-shirt. I am seriously considering this.
I just want to make one thing clear ... the idea might be mine, but most of the drawing is NOT! The figures came from 'Vrouwen in 't wit' and the motorcycle/sidecar from 'De brozems'
